![]() I have another issue, wherein the digital cockpit and infotainment screens get stuck in "night mode", either backing out of my garage or when driving through a tunnel. This morning I start it, all my customizations are gone, trips are at 0, and before I got to the bottom of my driveway the digital cockpit shut down. Vehicle sat in the garage since last Thursday without being touched. The current issue, shutting down for good (until vehicle restart), until today, I never lost the customizations/trip odometers. This was seemingly fixed with the Infotainment System reset process. It would always come back with my customizations gone and trip odometers reset to zero. Lots of anecdotes here and elsewhere of similar problems but no consistent theme or solution that I have found.īefore the current problem, the digital cockpit would randomly shut down while driving, but in those instances came back up within 10-15 seconds. My gut feeling is this is probably software and VW doesn't seem to have any urgency around fixing it. I would welcome that because it'd be fixable. I don't discount the cluster could be bad. If this can't be fixed before my warranty expires it will become a time and money sink. Is there any path here? I love the vehicle, when it's working properly, I don't want to part with it but at this point it has become a massive time sink. I can't even get a loaner vehicle or rental reimbursement when this happens, on a brand new car, that had less than 2k miles on it when the problem started and remains under 15k today. Volkswagen Corporate alludes to a lemon buyback program for a problem that can't be fixed within three visits (tomorrow will be Visit #4, FWIW), but so far haven't offered anything concrete. I've found a few TSBs that describe similar problems but none seem directly applicable and the dealer is already aware of them. I have an escalation case opened with Volkswagen Corporate. I have multiple videos of the problem happening. They claim there are no error codes logged. Now they're saying they can't do anything unless they can duplicate the problem, which is highly intermittent, so unless they want to join me on my daily commute for a few days/weeks I'm not sure where that leaves us. ![]() The second happened with the phone connected. Today's first occurrence of digital cockpit shutting down happened without my phone being connected. This felt like grasping at straws to me - the infotainment screen never shuts down - but I entertained it, even bought the insanely overpriced Volkswagen branded lightning cable to end the bellyaching about my "third party" cable. Their previous working theory was the problem is related to Apple CarPlay. Every feature of the vehicle I can safely test while driving continues to work, except for the digital cockpit display. ![]() The Infotainment screen remains functional throughout. It always reoccurs, sometimes it takes weeks, other times it will reoccur within an hour on the same drive. Pulling over, turning the car off, waiting 5 minutes (long enough for lights/infotainment to shut down), then restarting, will temporarily solve the problem. The only one that showed a solution said they pushed the CD Eject button to abort, but that didn't work for me.My digital cockpit randomly shuts down while driving, blank screen except for fuel level and water/cooling temp, and the red caution light. I've seen a couple threads with this issue, all but one did not offer a solution. but I don't know if that would fix it at this rate. I also took it by a different dealer today, a few techs looked at it with no avail and said it would need to be sent into the shop. I've had a friend reach out to his contacts at a dealer, they had never seen this before. ![]() I have tried to re-enter the Diagnostic/Developer mode but it's not playing ball.Įach time I reconnect everything, the screens go back to the Update status.I just attempted a hard reset, I disconnected the battery terminals then attached a jumper from Pos to Neg, and left it for 90 minutes. ![]() I've disconnected the battery for 18 hours straight.I've had both Audio fuses pulled for 72 hrs straight - the only fuses I can find that seem related to the system, and the only way to kill the screens.I've searched for days on different forums, and Google trying to find a fix but I cant. When the loading bar completes, the screens shut off, then the Phone initialization screen, the screens then go black again, then the upper screen shows the Home Link home screen, after that both screens go back to showing its updating. The upper screen shows a loading bar and "Please do not shut off engine" and the lower screen shows "Program update started". I made the grave mistake of pushing "Update" in the System Developer menu, and its been stuck there since. ![]()
